David Knox

David Knox’s current work fuses his own photography with historic imagery to create digital collages that reveal untold stories from the 19th-century American South. He earned his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and has been teaching photography for nearly thirty years.

 

Knox's work has been widely recognized: in 2018, he received the Louisiana Contemporary Helis Foundation Art Prize at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and in 2019 he was named Fine Art Photographer of the Year by the International Photography Awards. Most recently, his portrait collage series Tableaux Montage earned him the Bronze award in 2023 and the Gold award in 2024 from the Prix de la Photographie Paris.

 

Knox is recognized by collectors and galleries across the country.
