New England artist Patti Davis Ganek paints what she loves. Her professional career spans over forty years, sparked from art classes at summer camp along Maine’s Sebago Lake. Childlike wonder permeates her work, particularly in her energetically marked seascapes, but there is also a heartfelt detail to her florals, and abstract pieces. While the craft provides Ganek with joy and accomplishment, she also takes great comfort in creation while experiencing the inevitable challenges of life. This tenderness comes through in her work.
Inspired by abstract expressionists, Ganek aims for spontaneity and provocation in her paintings. Capturing beauty in the world is her “labor of love.” She hopes to incite deep emotional response to her strong compositions by including interesting textures, and carefully diffused colors. Her landscapes slip into abstraction with a careful rhythm. Ganek is unafraid of bold gesture in her work but her paintings radiate an undeniable gentle expression.
