In the words of Becky Denny: “ I have collected thousands of pieces of vintage paper ephemera over 40 years. I form emotional attachments to most every scrap. I’m significantly influenced by these printed images and words, which I collage in mixed media paintings to build a narrative. I’m a career creative professional as an art director and editorial illustrator. Several years ago I began creating personified pet portraits, based only on a brief bio and a few photos submitted by the owner. I can only describe my process as highly intuitive, clairvoyant and somewhat psychic. The resulting visual interpretation is how the pet wishes to be seen by their humans. I also interpret the stories of dogs and cats I meet. They approach me and ask me to reveal their true identities. Once I see them, I cannot unsee.”
